Im a new programmer and there wasnt any of these last time.
When i press Build, VC++ 6 will show "Linking..." and the programs NEVER get linked. I tried pressing STOP but no use. I cant even close VC++ as it says its still bulding a project. I tired the same code in my friend's comp and it works! I reinstalled VC++ 6 but the same problmes arises.
Please help, i need to complete this programmming for my sch's proj.

is you computer's virtual memory low? windows could be busy with swap file if the c++ project is large.
They mostly come at night...mostly.

I've experienced similar problems before...the solution (I'm afraid) is to completely uninstall and then do a clean install of each of the applications in question.By complete uninstall I mean registery settings and such as well. Run the appropriate uninstall program, use regedt32 to edit the registry (WITH CAUTION) and do a search for all visual studio references and then identify C++ 6.0 entries and delete them. Manually delete any directories that were created when it tried to install but could not for one reason or another delete them.
Once these things have been done you shouldn't have too much trouble reinstalling it and this should then clear up the locking up you are experiencing.

OMG...im not pro at registery editing and my system sure has enuf RAM, 768MB RAM not enuf? cant be.
How am i suppose to know which registry files are meant for VC++? OMG...im goona fail my proj.

I was experiencing the same problem...Try Borelli's sugestion and install SP¨for Visual Studio 6:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/downloads/updates/sp/vs6/sp6/default.aspx

Have you tried to disable generate browse information for project? I have found that this reduces the hangs on Visual Studio by about 50%. Also when VC6 hangs during a build you can kill visual studio using task manager, reload visual studio, reload your project file then perform a clean rebuild all.
