I wanna learn how to program VB (hey i gotta start somewhere) and im wondering is there a learners edition. BUt b4 u answer that, should I learn BASIC? If I should, can i learn it over the net for free from some sites or do i need software?
Thx,
TeJarz

I would say that it would be better to learn VBScript/ASP, both of which are free and installed or can be from CD.
To use VBScript/ASP install Microsoft (IIS "internet web server" or PWS "personal web server"),asp support and the associated help files. With ASP "active server pages" you can create browser based applications very much like VB applications and language.

If you are completely new to programming a good start would be to learn BASIC using MS QBASIC. It's in the oldmsdos folder on the Win9x cd. Learn the syntax, programming logic, arrays, subroutines, branching, etc. This is a good tutorial site:

This is probably the best way to start because you won't get overwhelmed by graphics, ActiveX controls, multimedia stuff, hundreds of objects, methods, and properties. After that, move on to VB. You can pick up a good VB book that comes with a Control Creation Edition of VB for about $50. I used Sam's Teach Yourself VB 6 in 21 Days. After VB, move onto C, C++, and Java.
