I am new to VB. I am using VB 6.0 Enterprise Edition to create a database application. I have been trying to add a data report to the application that will access the database created in the application . The database was created inside VB with the Visual Data Manager. I have added a Data Environment(along with a connection and a command) and a Data Report to the project. When I get to the point that I "should" be able to drag and drop fields from the data environment to the data report, the fields are grey and not able to be dragged. I can double click on the tables and the tables open up in an "Access-Type" window for editing; so it knows where the database is and what data is in it. I just can't use the fields in the report. I have worked through the data report example from MSDN using the Northwind database and I get the same results. Am I missing a reference? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I know this is not the answer you are looking for, but here is my suggestion...use Crystal Reports for reports. There are several major advantages, such as:
(1) more flexibility
(2) not part of the project; therefore, can be changed without having to re-compile.
I have been using CR exclusively for years without any regrets.

Yes!!! I think you've missed a reference... Look at the properties of your datareport... You havent set-up a Recordsource property etc... please check that out... Any reactions/questions? email me back...
