Is it possible to use the xcopy command in a batch file with the /exclude tag to exclude an entire folder?

Essentially what I have is an xcopy from one folder to another, but I also have a third folder that has some of the same files in it that I want to exclude. I want to write an xcopy command that goes like this:

xcopy \\folder1\*.* \\folder2\*.* /exclude:\\folder3

Is this possible? Every time I try it, it tries to read \\folder3 as a single filename rather than a folder containing multiple files. Thanks!

That helped some, but it's still not filtering correctly. I have made a separate text file (that was my initial problem) with the network path in it. However, the xcopy now ignores the exclude file (and thus the network path) and simply copies EVERYTHING in the folders, regardless of the exclusion.

Any other thoughts?
