I am creating a class called contacts that I can instantiate with its constructor as an object. Each one of my paremeters are to hold a value for a display field. My display is made up of swing components in net beans. I have a combination box for my State field. I am setting up an edit mode and veiw mode by setting the properties of my components. I find that I may have trouble when viewing the state data of an already exsisting object in my combo box. I am just returning a string of state abreviation. My combo box in net beans will not allow me to edit it. how do I select a value from my items list on the comboBox based on my contacts.getState() value
??comboBox = contacts.getState()?? I don't think this will work because comboBox has an initial set of values to choose from and I can't seem to figure how to see them except from the properties value in design mode.. I like just writing in notepad better. Not an option though in this case. please help

ye alot of that stuff is generated code. there should be an small expander in the code that shows that generated code. you may not be able to edit it though. You might have to write it in yourself.
