Man, I hate it when that happens! Unfortunately, if we were talking about a floppy disk then you would be in luck, but an entire hard drive? Not that I've seen anyways. Sorry!

Their are companies which provide services for recovering lost HD data, but they are not free.
You could try searching GOOGLE for any free data recovery tools. I did a search and came up with a couple, though I have never tried any of them.
Fact is when you format a HDD, you dont delete any data, you simply delete the File allocation table. Therefore theoreticaly you should be able to recovery any lost data.
