I installed the program Audiocatalyst to rip cds with on my new computer, only to realize that it didnt work with XP.. until I downloaded an ASPI driver (ASPI ME, a few years ago) today- and now my computer isnt recognizing the presence of my dvd and cdrw drives- under the control panel I get this message:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information [in the registry] is incomplete or damaged.

However, Audiocatalyst IS reading cds... is there a way to fix this problem? or a way to switch in between using ASPI and not using it, so that I can use it on Audiocatalyst when I need to?

Also dont know if this has any effect on the problem, but I also recently installed Easy CD Creator 5 which I know has its own drivers.

Any help will be much appreciated.

..should read that ASPI ME is a few years old, instead of ago

Thank you Greg for your invaluable input. And, thank you for proving that you have no brain, or are incapable of using it.

You should learn to use fullstops... :-D

Adieu,
Leigh.
