Good morning all,
I am having some troulbe with using a software as a Power User, it keeps asking me to install Interent Explorer 6 because it can't verify it is installed as a Power User.To solve this problem I would like to see the code for the programs .exe file so that I can see what files I need to assign permissions to.
Is there any such program that can use to show me the code for this program? (Or any .exe for that matter) (I don't know what it was designed in but am assuming visual basics)
Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Mario-

I would contact the writers of the programme and confirm that the application will in fact run under Windows XP.
An application that tries to confirm the existence of IE6 was probably designed to run under Windows 98.
There is no need to check for the existence of IE6 under Windows XP as Windows XP wont work without IE6
There are application that will allow you to look at the code of an .exe but unless you are familiar with machine code it wont tell you a lot. You wont see anything that looks like Visual Basic code or any other programming language code. You might just be able to see some text that relates to a programme file, but its not guaranteed.
WinHex is a good application to allow you to look inside EXE files.

Thanks for your help Stuart,
I understand what you are saying about verifying IE6 on an XP machine, as I pointed that out to the programer, but he does not seem to be very big on the Windows OS or it's permisions.
I have asked to see the code, but he keeps on avoiding my emails. Just says he is looking into it.
I will try out the WinHex, as all I need to do is figure out what it is using to validate IE6.
Thanks again for your help,
-Mario-

Just to follow up,
After 2 weeks of troubleshooting the issue with the programer, he finally remembered that they had already created a fix for this issue and it was on the Installation CD.
I ran the executable he told me to run which adds some registry entries and everything worked great after that.
