hi people :
i m gotta project of my semester :
2D Snooker Game, using directx, C++
etcc..
pls help me from where shod i start

First, if you don't already have it, go to Microsoft and look for their DirectX SDK. I believe that their latest package out is DirectX 9.0a. The last time I checked was about a month or so ago. And of course, the download is free because Microsoft wants to promote the usage of it's SDK on all platforms.
Secondly you should know your basic elementary data structures/data types such as stacks, pointers, arrays, classes, structures, inline functions, virtual functions, constructors and destructors. If you have a good knowledge and background with this stuff then you'll have an easier time developing your game.
Another thing to make sure of is that you acquire or have a good knowledge of how to program with the API. Make sure that you have some sort of literature as a reference to program in any of the C++ enviroments using DirectX. I personally would recommend any Games Programming literature by Andre LaMothe.
Use google, I know this sounds extremely vague but it returns the most results of any search engine out there. NeHe seems to be a popular open source and tutorial site. I'm not sure if they have C++ games programming with DirectX, last I checked it was for OpenGL but it wouldn't hurt to check it out. Hope this helps you and good luck with your project.
