Specs: Windows XP
Hey, i was wondering, is it possible to make windows media player set an environment variable (lets say it's name is %nowplaying%) with the currently playing song?

basically i want %nowplaying% to equal "artist - song"

i dunno if there is a wmp plugin to do it, or something else..

It could easily be done with a plugin, but why bother? A change in the environment doesn't propagate up though the system, only down to any child processes you spawn.

No, because most programs cannot communicate with the layer that is using those variables. How are you going to change the variable content, to be used by WMP ?

You can let a DOS box control WMP, and start up WMP with what he has got in his environment, but that is pretty complex.
