I have a program that only runs if the date is a specific date. I would like a batch file that would write the current date to a txt file and then set date to specific date-run program and then retrieve date from txt file to reset the clock back to current date.

Basically what you are trying to do is turn the clock back so that you can run a time limited demo version of some software.

Forget it, simple solutions like you are proposing were sorted out years ago, It wont work.
