Rename Files /Add Reg Files Via DOS

Specs: Windows Vista
Hi Guys,

I am trying to compile a BAT file that will
rename two word files, two gif files and add a
few reg settings....and getting nowhere with it!

i.e. when bat file is run Invoice.doc will change
to Invoice2.doc and the other file Invoice3.doc
will change to Invoice.doc

The same idea applies to the gif file.

Before I even look at the reg settings I cant
seem to get the simple renaming to work; my
code is as follows:

RENAME c:\Test\Invoice.doc

I have tried different variations of this but keep
getting syntax errors.

I'm sure this is something ridiculously obvious
that I'm doing wrong but I cant put my finger on

Also anyone with any advice on how to edit
two lines in the registry your help would be
greatly appreciated!

Thanks folks!

ren d:\stuff\old new

*NO* drive or path preceding new name.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.
