plz i need to manage my web server traffic by analysing data of log file & i'"ve to write a database script to read the web server log file ?

Ok, I don't intend to be mean but try this: disregard everything you know about the circumstances of the problem, read your post and consider the information you gave us.

Do you think anyone could solve the problem with only this information?

You need to be more specific on just about everything -

Which OS? (mainly just version, I do see red hat in you header).

What needs to be done and where you are falling short?

Which language? (I see batch and linux so I assume bash, batch tends to refer to windows scripting more than bash)

What do your logs look like and what data you want to scrape from it?

What is the final result?

If you already have some code post it in <pre> tags.

thanks, actually i need to learn about linux,web servers, abatche & log files from the bases. i appreciate that if someone could provide me articles ,learning books or somthing like.

It's Apache, and if you're looking for a log analyzer, there are options.

Just grep the Apache logfile for whatever you are looking for, it's not that hard
