you know how you setup the .cdf file to make the seach possible from the desktop?

Lets say I want to do that with another search site, like the NIH...

All I do is copy the form and save it as a .cdf, then what would I have to do to run the file and make it work?

Do I have to have permission to do this, or can I just code something up to open the channel?

thanks

Hello,

Sorry for the delay. You should really do a search on google about this type of thing. To be honest, I made that desktop search so long ago, I don't remember all the rules on how to do stuff like that. Its the only time I have ever worked with ActiveDesktop. All I can say is that it wasn't that difficult. I found the information on a search engine pretty quickly.

Alternatively, you can just try copying what I created and modifying it so that it will work.

To answer your question more directly, you don't have to do anything special to the file itself. All you have to do is upload the file on the webserver and link it with A HREF.

Hello,

You don't need any special permissions beyond those required to upload HTML files. But, yes, you do need that minimum set of permissions.
