Qbasic Beep function

hi ppl. have a silly question, hopefully you could help me. running qbasic under win 98, the BEEP function, maked one of the windows sound, called "default beep" or just "beep", dont remeber. point being, is that qbasic under win98 could play from the speaker the beep sound, and i could choose from the multimedia properties in the control panel which sound it will be. now, under xp, it creates a poor sound which is hardly heard from the speakers. how can i fix that?! thanx alot!!! Some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them
