PKZIP not storing folders or files

November 3, 2011 at 09:46:47
Specs: Windows XP
I am currently running on an old version of PKZIP. 2.0.4g., on a system at work. I can't upgrade it because of our clients are on the same version.

If I type the following command at my computer (Windows xp - Version 5.1 service pack 3) at the C: drive
c:\pkzip c:\ -r -p c:\inetpub\wwwroot\*.*

I get all of the files and folders in the C:\inetpub\wwwroot directory.

However if I run the same command on a different computer but is set up with (Windows xp - Version 5.1, service pack 3)
I only get the files that are in the format of 8.3 and no folders. The only difference is that the folders and file names are not the same on the two machines. To me it shouldn't matter what the names are.

What you refer is not clear, anyway be awarw pkzip for DOS as 2.0.4g can't process correctly names not 8.3 compliant.

Ok. I did not realize that. I know that it will shorten the file/folder names if they are not in the 8.3 format, but I didn't realize it wouldn't process them if they were not 8.3 compliant.

Thank you.
