If the server runs a Line Printer Daemon protocol it can be done with the command "lpq -Syourserver -Pprintername" (in cmd).

If not, perhaps this perl module can help you.

Hi,

Thanks for your response,
Yes a daemon thread is running always to check the directory size to print the Word Docs, its successfully prints the docs.
The problem is if the printer is out of Paper, the job is in printer que,

I want to check the printer staus, if each print job is successful, then only move the printed doc to a different folder.

How do we check the printer status, that's my whole question.

Try opening the cmd console in windows.
Then try lpq -Syourserver -Pprintername to get the print status.
This only works if you have a Line Printer Daemon protocol installed on the server (makes it possible to print and check status on a printer with command concole).
If it doesnt work you probably dont have this type of deamon installed. Dont know another solution myself.

The 'LPQ,LPR,PRINT' commands also works in LINUX (if it has a Line printer deamon installed that is)
