I have set up my windows 2003 iis server to run pearl scripts. I have it set up, but I have never used pearl before, so as for testing, I don't know if it will work.

I have a simple 3 line program, that is in the form of hello.pl. I have this file stored in a cgi-bin folder. However, when I go to my web site, it doesn't do any thing, as I would imagine there is a good reason for this, however, I don't know what it is due to my lack of experience with pearl and how it works.

Anyway, here are a few questions that would help me figure this stuff out if somebody can answer them for me.

Question 1

My hello world program simply prints hello world to the screen(obviously). When I request this page(hello.pl) over the net, should it load and say hello world?

Question 2

Or, should this script be imbeded in my html, so when the page loads it will say hello world, and I should see a .html file name in my browswer address bar?

If somebody could just give me an overview how this works, I'd greatly appreciate it. thanks in advance.
