Hi,

I am finding a command line program/tool that reads in a PDF document, and extract in this file the page(s) (exactly 1 page only in this case) that contains an input string.

For example, input string is "Smith 123",

And in the PDF file, which has for example 100 pages, the program would extract exactly the page that contain this string.

Google seach gives a lot of information, and most of tools I encountered so far is extracting based on page number instead. I can actually find some library functions and write a wrap around function: from the input string, returns the page number, and then from the page number, use the command line program to extract it.

But the thing is this method is unfavored for some reasons. And it seems that the best way is that to have a tool that encapsulate the implementation details, while it is easily incorporated with the existing components.

So could anyone know of a PDF tool that take in a string and return the pages which contain that string.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards

If you are using Adobe Reader you can go to edit and click on search to find keywords. The only reason you would need a program/tool is if you were searching through Multiple PDF files or trying to export the information to another file or program however, judging by your request I don't believe that to be the case.
