Outguess installed with CygWin not working

April 5, 2014 at 13:06:23
Specs: Windows 7, Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 / 3.20 GHz / 8 GB Ram
Hi, I am getting into this hole steganography think(via Cicada 3301) and I have installed Outguess with CygWin, but it does not work...
I have set up the paths correctly and the file does contain information:

$ outguess -r zN4h51m.jpg output.txt
Reading zN4h51m.jpg....
Extracting usable bits: 29835 bits
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

And the output.txt does not contain anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

BTW there is NEVER a category that fits me...

IT looks like outguess works on windows directly, why are you trying to run it through cygwin?

without knowing anything else this error Segmentation fault (core dumped) seems to normally talk about a memory access violation, such as errors regarding pointers for virtual memory addressing. My guess is that there is something that is causing your program to access something that it does not have access rights too.

Have you considered attempting to r establish ownership through a chmod, or administrator rights using chown?
