Move Multiple files to Same Named Folder

Specs: Windows XP
I have a set of almost 3000 jpgs all located in one folder. There are multiple jpgs that each start with the same number (i.e. 21054_1.jpg, 21054_2.jpg, 31902_1.jpg, 31902_2.jpg, etc.) I have already run a bat file that creates the folder name off of the initial number (resulting in over 600 folders). The thing I would like to do now is move the corresponding files to its corresponding folder (ie. 31902_1.jpg and 31902_2.jpg would be moved to folder 31902). Is there a bat file I can compile to accomplish this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I will move this to the programming forum.

I do wonder what you are getting out of making so many folders only to put a file in each one. What you used to access with one mouse click you have now doubled.. times 600.

Ever hear of sorting in explorer?
