Here is the situation: There are about 130 students using a single printer connected directly to network. Virtually free of charge. And I, beeing a network administrator, would like to change this. And here is the general idea of how to do that. Server detects that something is going to be printed, printing is temporrary stopped and compuster asks for a username and password. Depending on the accuracy of information provided, printing is resumed or canaceled.
And now comes the problem. How to monitor print jobs? I have been reading through a MSDN, got the picture of how whole proces of printing loks like, what is a spooeler's job an so on. However, I simply dont have the slightest idea of how to interrupt, pause and resume printing. I do have some experience in programing, on the other hand, I have no experience in system programing, that is, thins that are directly connected to Windows system.
If you have any idea, how to make such thing work, I woul apreciate all the help you could offer. If you know of any freeware that solves that problem, even better.
Thanks for help
