Making the Password Hidden on Command Prompt

September 19, 2010 at 00:17:28
Specs: Windows XP
I have done research on this countless times and iv seen it possible for other people.
I want to be able make a certain line in command prompt hidden for things such as passwords. For example i want to make UBER42 invisible when someone types it in:
@echo off
set /p "pass=Password:"
echo Invalid Password press any key to retry...
pause >nul
goto start

Thanks in advance, - Shawn

An old method was to change the background and foreground colors to the same value. It required loading ANSI.SYS in old DOS systems.
