Comment:

This may be a bit of an unusual request but here goes anyway.

I have a video player program (WM9) that uses the keyboard 'Control' and 'P' keys to start and stop playback. However, I need to be able to stop/start the player from external automation that has spare open/close relay contacts available. (The Control key has to be down before the P key is pressed).

I could open up the keyboard and take wires from across the Ctl and P pushbuttons to my remote switches, but this seems somewhat crude. Or perhaps I have to generate an ascii code of 1D, 19 for Play, and 9D, 99 to stop? But what do I do then - connect to the RS232 port? Then what?

Sorry I'm so completely dumb on this but can someone please help me from scratch?

Many thanks in advance.
