Reply: (edit)Buying books these days is pretty much a waste of your time and money. Using google you can search & find a lot of good tutorials.

Reply: (edit)If you have trouble understanding things, I HIGHLY recommend Learn to Program with Java, by John Smiley. My library had it. Give it a few chapters - it goes slowly, but you really do get a thorough understanding; he explains everything wonderfully. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0072131896/qid=1088258585/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/104-8677829-4460763?v=glance&s=books&n=507846
