Specs: Windows 7
How can i use a batch file to shutdown a windows 7 pc? I used shutdown -s -t 30 -c "shutting down" on my old windows vista pc and that worked fine. In fact if i use the file i originally created on my windows vista pc, it will shutdown my windows 7 pc but if i try to create a new batch file with the exact same code, on my windows 7 pc, it will not shut it down unless i right click on it and hit run as administrator. I am trying to mess with my friend and it would kind of put a halt to the prank if he has to right click and run as administrator. Haha.....thanks in advance for your help!

I believe the reason for the setting is in fact to prevent messing with his computer.

✔ Best Answer
send him it as a shortcut , and change -t to -t 0 , and remove -c , in this case it'll automatically shutdown , also if you create a batch code , *some* computers require adminisration to prevent these pranks , by default it is disabled , just to check and make sure it 100% works , use this:
@echo off
shutdown -s -t 0

Hope I helped
