How to remove space character from filenames

August 10, 2011 at 23:32:03
Specs: Windows 2000/XP, Core 2 Quad/3GB
I have many hundreds of files in a folder and the filenames of all files begin with space character, e.g. " ABCD.TXT" in stead of "ABCD.TXT". (Those strange filenames are automatically generated by a data vender and I have no control of it.) Those files are processed by my batch file consisting of multiple steps so that they become applicable to an application software. For that it is necessary to remove the preceding space character from all filenames in the middle of batch process. Accordingly I cannot use commercial/noncommercial window programs. Can someone write batch lines that can be inserted into my large batch file? All help will be appreciated.

Do you mean you want to rename the files after removing the leading space?
