Subject: How to put Excel spreadsheet on web pag
Comment:

Hi,
Could anybody out there please advise me on how to put Excel spreadsheets into a web page. I'm producing a website for a local club and there can be a lot of competition results to show. I've tried using tables, but it takes forever. I much prefer Excel.
I'm not a computer buff so any help would be appreciated especially if its in laymans terms.

Many thanks to anyone who helps.

Jerry.

Excel (as many MS programs) have a "Save As HTML" option. When I opened my copy of Excel up, it didn't have that option, so I when to the Help Index and typed in "html" and found this:

Create a Web page from worksheet data or a chart

If the Save As HTMLcommand doesn't appear on the File menu in Microsoft Excel, you need to install the Internet Assistant add-in program. For more information, click .

1 Click a cell in the data that you want to convert to a Web page.
2 On the File menu, click Save As HTML.
3 Follow the instructions in the Internet Assistant.

So, that would be one option. Just use Excel's "save as Html". You probably won't want to do much modification of the resulting file tho. I've exported Word files as HTML and they are full of a lot of detailed HTML. I've found that they aren't worth my time to try to edit.

Excel 97 onwards can save sections of a spreadsheet as HTML. It does an OKish job of it, too - I have no experience of the add-in mentioned by Don, so can't comment there.

However -

You could always copy the spreadsheet contents over from Excel to make a table in Word, then get Word to save as HTML...

From memory, I think it would do a good enough job.

Tom
