How to play a game without the CD

I have a game on a cd. Each time I try to run the game from my programs menu, I am prompted to insert the CD and then press ok. What can I do to play the game directly from my programs menu without having to use the CD?. Thanks in advance.
You probably need to re-install it. At a guess, it has
1) Minimal installation 2) Typical installation 3) Full installation
Normally 1&2 will need the CD but 3 won't. If your game needs the CD all the time because of graphics etc, you wll probably have to
a) xcopy it on to the hard disk in a separate directory b) subst that directory as a drive letter (say S:) c) install from S: d) change the startup to subst S:
If the software has some way of detecting that S: is not a CD then you cannot do it.

Most of the time you will have to insert the CD. This is a way for the company to ensure someone won't copy the game on many computers. There are hacker programs that eliminate the need for CDs for the most recent games. You could try that out to. Just type NO CD and the name of the game and see what results from it.
