"its going to be hard, but i want to learn it!"
You're a good man... As always, we are here if needed. I hate mathematics also, Calculus IV just about kept me from my Computer Science degree. I don't know many programmers that are VERY good at math, those who are, will more than likely make a lot of money. However, let it be known that I hate math of all shapes and sizes. ;)
Having said that, I am forced to use mathematics extensively in algorithm development, ai, and in some instances, every day programming.
During most of my Java development, I reference the following websites:
A Sun Java Tutorial>/a>
The Java Standard Edition, v1.2.2 API SpecificationI also referenced a plethora of pre-written Java applets, as well as, these two books...
How to Program Java - Covers Java 2 and Introduces Swing. Wrote by Dietel & Dietel. ISBN: 0-13-012507-5
Java by Example. Wrote by Clayton Walnum, Published by Que. ISBN: 0-7897-0814-0
The links above though were always my first choice, followed by example code.
Good luck.

When i first started programming in java, there was a textbook that i used which i find very helpful for beginners. the title of the book is:
How to Program Java - Covers Java 2 and Introduces Swing. Wrote by Dietel & Dietel. ISBN: 0-13-012507-5. The book is a very good book, and i think u'll find it quite useful.
i love programming in java, and trust me it's is not as hard as people make it out to be. Take your time learning it and i'm sure u'll love it.

Here's a couple of things that helped me when I first started out:
Java Ranch
http://www.javaranch.com/great site, very beginner friendly w/ articles, tutorials, book reviews and, most importantly, great forums, especially for newbies
--------
Java 2: A Beginner's Guide (book)
http://www.bookpool.com/.x/e5kzqerbmn/sm/0072225882Once you've got the SDK installed, this is a great beginner's book. Starts from the basics and is good at explaining objects and methods.
-------Hope this helps!

WoW! Awesome!!
