Help copying batch to txt

Specs: Windows
I am making a batch file that basically uses a code I came up with and makes a batch file do people that don't know how to use batch files can make it with the code. I want it to do something like this:

@echo off
color 1f
set /p c=CMD:
if %c%==display.function_browser goto browser

set /p b=Browser?(Y/N):
if %b%==y goto y
if %b%==n goto start

echo @echo off >new.txt
echo color 0a >>new.txt
echo set /p url=HTTP://www. >>new.txt
echo start http://www.%url%/ >>new.txt

But when I look at the "New.txt" It says:
@echo off
color 0a
set /p url=http://www.
start http://www./

Does anyone know why it won't add the "%url%" part?

Interesting, it works for me. Try using:

echo start http://www.^%url^%/ >>new.txt
