Never tried QBASIC on xp. Some of Microsoft BASIC's have a timing problem above a certain speed. There are free BASIC's that may be more compatible - FREEBASIC is one that I have used.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

I'm currently running QBasic 1.1 (which was a required version for my course) on WinXP. below is how to install

Make a folder on your drive named 'qbasic'

Then go to http://www.geocities.com/Area51/5967/qbasic.html

Click on the (broken) picture beside Download Qbasic 1.1, which is about halfway down the page. You will see an alert window after you click. Choose 'Save'. Once you click the 'Save' button, a window will open showing the directories and files on your PC. Navigate to the 'qbasic' directory you created above and save the file (named olddos.exe) to that location.

To install the program, double click the olddos.exe file you downloaded. Note the warnings. MAKE SURE you have the olddos.exe safely in your qbasic directory (that you created) before double-clicking.

The olddos.exe file will extract a number of files associated with QBasic. To run simply double-click the qbasic.exe file

Is it saying something about win32?
Because this happened to me, and you have to make a copy a file, but I can't remember which one at the moment. What is the exact error message?
