I have been programming for about 5-6 years. I know c++, vb, sql, asp, asp.net, html, javascript, vrml, and more. I was curious, although these languages can be used to make games, what are the 'pros' using when they build games? As it was my original intention to write my own games, I was wondering which new languages I should be migrating into. Thanks for any help offered!

DarkBASIC, RealBASIC, ethosBASIC.
But DarkBASIC is really good for newbies who wants to write 2D and 3D appz and games.

Yes Visual C++ is professional language for game creating. For example GTA2 was written in Visual C++ 5.0

"For games programming, IMHO assembly language is the best. :)"
you dont write code in ASM. ASM wasnt made for OOP. you write the code using c++ then add in ASM code to make it more efficient

InTRUdEr,
I just wanted to say thanks a million for your advice, I started looking at DarkBASIC trial version. I can hardly wait to dive into it. I have been programming for sometime and have a strong knowledge of textures/graphic editing. This language/program looks like it does everything I will need. I cant wait to start on it. Maybe when I make my first top-seller game I will give you a free license. :P Thanks!

Just to add... is C# good for games?
Thanks! ;)Ian;
