Find creation date of files

Specs: Windows Vista
Using MS DOS (by line or batch)

How can I find the creation Year of all files from 1998 (for instance) and then move them to another folder ?? Or find creation date 1998 files and delete them ??

Be careful, the creation date can be a bit misleading. I have MS-DOS files going back to 1991 yet they show a creation date of 2007. The last modified date is 1991 though. I haven't used MS-DOS since 1995.

The files creation date is the date they were created on the computer they reside on, not necessarily the date the files were first made.

And if you are using Vista, you wont be using MS-DOS, You will be using a command prompt.

If you just need to do that once, I guess Explorer may be a better tool, rather than batch.

I'm assuming here that no files dating 1998 will be introduced anymore ...

But if for any reason you need to repeat, and need to use batch ... Good question.
