I posted this over on the Win9x forum, got no responses, thought I'd try here:

I'm trying to get the statement
XX!--#include file="header.shtml" --> (replace "XX" with "<")
to work on my PC so I can do web development. It doesn't. Anybody know what I'm missing?

I'm using valid html pages. IE5.5 displays them the way I want. When I put in the include statement, nothing happens on my PC, but they work at my website (although they work erratically at the website - I have what appear to me to be identical uses of 'include' and some work, some don't).

Could it be related to whether I'v declared my html version as HTML 3.2 Final, HTML 4.01 Transitional, etc.?

Could my Security settings (IE/Tools/Internet Options/Security/Custom Level be wrong? Some other setting?

Thanks in advance to all the great posters on this board!
