HI,
I have a simple question. is a compaq laptop at 1.6 ghz,and a bus speed of 400 mhz, and a Intel® Pentium® M 725Aa fairly decent laptop? I am using it for Macromedia studio, Adobe cs2, and Adobe Premiere. Please let me know, no one else will.
Thanks alot,

The reason you are not getting any responses is that you keep posting int he wrong forums. You have posted in the Web Development forum and now the Programming forum for advice on a hardware purchase. You need to post this in the General Hardware forum or even the Windows XP forum. These forums are designed for questions about . . . Web Development and Programming.
The bus speed is a factor, but it is mostly dependant on the processor that the system is running - so it is a non-issue in my opinion.
Since you are planning to use this for graphic arts and multimedia do not get a budget processor such as the Intel Celeron or the AMD Sempron. Either get a P4 or AMD Athlon. Pentiums generally perform better than the Athlons in video and audio encoding. However, yuou *might* want to consider a 64-bit AMD processor (if they are available in laptops) if you plan to use this for several years. Once Windows 64-bit becomes more mainstream video editing program that are built for 64bit will perform much better than their 32bit siblings.
You will also want to make sure you have plenty of memory. I'd consider 512MB the bare minimum for your tasks. 1GB would be much better. You will also want a good video card. It does not need to be a monster gaming card, but if you are doing video work you don't want to skimp here. I'd say look for a system with at least a 128MB video card.
Most other specs are up to you. Do you need a CD Burner/DVD-ROM or do you need a DVD Burner. It should have wired and wireless network connectivity (of the G variety). USB2 and firewire should be included. Do you need a media card reader? Etc., etc.
