Hi guys.

What I am trying to do is to create a batch file that ends a few apps runnning, when I
go to play some videogames. ( when these 10 apps are closed, I get alot more fps and about 1000 extra points in 3dmark.)

I tried using the Kill.exe(win2k file) in a bat. (ie. Kill.exe Smc.exe
Kill.exe Tablet.exe )
But, the kill program will not shut down Smc.exe(sygate firewall or norton. )

And true, I could just go in to task manager and close them manuel, but I be a lazy monkey.

Any ideas or apps I could use to help me??
thx.

I think the problem you're having is that both Sygate and Norton run as services. Due to this, it is advisable NOT to use task manager to shut down the related executable.

A better way would be to stop the service. For example, if I wanted to stop Norton Antivirus auto protect with a batch file, I could use the command:

NET STOP "Norton AntiVirus Auto Protect Service"

This stops the service correctly. While this may or may not completely terminate the executable, it will stop it from using many, if any, resources.

So open the Services page using control panel or running "services.msc" and find out what the name of the Sygate or Norton service is, and stop it that way.

Thank you Dr.Nick

Net stop works great. I can even get rid
of the print spooler too.

One firm Salute.
