Specs: Windows XP
I want to copy files from my C Drive that maybe duplicated on my external HDD. So prior to copying, I want to check for duplicates on the external and only copy over the non-duplicated files from primary.

Please help if possible

Start with

XCOPY C:\ Z:\ /D

Where Z: is your external drive
Check if that is what you need, then look at "XCOPY /?" to see if you need more parameters.

on mine, for xcopy, /D wants :date (/D:date) for a "later-than" date specification.
also, the /L option is good to use when testing, to "look before leaping"

What version of XCOPY do you have Nbrane ?

I have used "XCOPY /D" more than I can count, and I NEVER specified any date.

Well, maybe once.

oh, i think i see, the date is optional so /D defaults to current date/time...
i didn't notice that (DUH to me!)
