Hi,
I have a little bit know how and experience in programming in Visual Basic and Visual C++ other then HTML etc. I was wondering if I can get into Cellphone programming like making small games or small softwares for the so called smart phones. I would just like to know how and where to start? Of course I don't want to know about just Nokia programing. I want to know how can I start for the most of the modern mobile sets. Somebody told me that I can even develop something in Visual C++ and somehow complile it to be supported by a PDA or Any of the new phones. If that is so then how? Any help would be very much appriciated.
Thanks

Andrea,
I'm not sure the details on compiling for cell phones in VC++, but I know almost all phones made in the last couple of years support Java apps. You can develop these by loading up the latest Java Run-time SDK and the J2ME (Java 2 Micro Edition) and J2WTK (Java 2 Wireless Toolkit). Along with the SDK comes a nifty little NetBeans IDE that is good for code development. Better yet, it's all free! Go to sun.com and everything you need should be there.
What's nice about developing in Java is that it will work on any phone that supports Java since it's all compiled to byte-code rather than machine code. Developing in VC++ would require a different compiler/assembler for each phone processor, which could vary even within brands. There might be compilers which take care of this, but I don't know. Hope this helps!Stephen
