First and foremost, sorry if I have posted this in the wrong area as I am not sure where this sort of question should be posted???
Can someone please tell me, is data that has been written to a CD, written in binary code??? If not how is it stored???

I suppose this is as good a forum as any...
Everything is written in binary code...Everything on your hard drive, everything on floppy disks, etc. We computer geeks are somewhat uncreative (if that's a word...) We tend to use binary for just about everything.
Maybe your question would make more sense if you put it in context...What are you trying to do?

Data is recorded on the disc as the presence or absence of "bumps" along the continuous spiral track. These bumps represent binary form of the computer data. For bulk produced disks the pits or so called "bumps" are pressed into the disk. On recordable media a laser is used to "burn" these pits.

It was just an argument at work to which I was of the understanding the everything was binary, just that the CD is red optically, but all in all, is still binary....
