I am new to batch files and command line, but I need one that will tell me the day in three letters.
Right now I have:
set _day= %DATE%
echo _date_day = %_day%

But that tells me: DDD 00/00/000
What should i do so i get rid of the 00/00/0000????

set _day=%DATE:~0,3%
echo _date_day = %_day%

Beware under XP home there is no day of week in the DATE variable.

No use guessing. Do this and post output:

echo %date%
