Specs: N/A

Am currently dealing with a system that will archive file and folder accordingly.
I need to maintain the hardisc capacity at 80%; meaning to delete the oldest files accordingly so that the archving will only took 80% of the whole capacity of the hardisc with the latest files and folders.

What if the size of new files is greater than 80%? Then there will be a portion of the backup almost immediate erased.

The idea is; will delete at least a week or two which will keep the data <80% of the total capacity.

example, if the capacity is 3TB: 80% = 2.4TB, 20%=0.6TB
a line to check the free space;
if free space < 0.6TB,
we will delete the data earlier 7 days or 14 days of data.

Good intentions. What if you do end of year processing and 1 TB needs to be backed up?
