Solved Bat file to delete first line file

Specs: Windows XP
Hi, I am trying to delete the first line of an XLS file. The XLS file contains a PeopleSoft-generated extract files. For some reason PeopleSoft places the record count in the first line of the spreadsheet extract files. I need to remove that first line. I want to do it using a bat file. I load these extract files into SQLServer 2008 database. The MS SQLServer Import utility gets confused if the column headers aren't the first line of the XLS file being loaded. Any help would be much appreciated. Right now I call filename.xls in the bat file.

XLS is a spreadsheet, and a spreadsheet is binary data. You cannot modify binary data in pure batch. VBScript or VBA would let you modify the spreadsheet in Excel, so I suggest you look at that.
