Thanks for the answers on my other basic question.

Is there a basc compiler out there? What I mean is other than VB and interpreters for basic, is there a compiler for the basic language that can produce decent results and output to .exe, or .com?

I have tried using C/C++ but it makes no sense to me, it's just not my style of logic. I have gotten some use out of assembly but it is taking me far to long to learn. So why not basic?

EDIT: Just found the RealBASIC site, and it looks pretty simple, but I'm looking for more of a command line only editor, and by the numbers, 000, 010, 020, at least thats how I remember basic.

c/cpp is far more powerful than old basic compilers, but try searching the web for turbo basic from Borland. I don't believe they have released it to the public domain, so keep that in mind.

A few others that I have not tried.MicroBasic MoonRock

I stole this list (slightly edited) from Wikipedia (to save some load on their servers). I bet an emulator exists for every single one of these. Some examples of early line-formated BASIC include Altair, Dartmouth, and Applesoft. Other than that fire some through Google and find what you like.

· Altair BASIC
· AMOS
· Applesoft BASIC
· ASIC
· Atari BASIC
· BASIC09
· BASICA
· BASIC-E
· BBC BASIC
· Blitz Basic
· Bywater BASIC
· CBASIC
· Commodore BASIC
· Dartmouth BASIC
· Ethos Basic
· FutureBASIC
· GFA BASIC
· GW-BASIC
· IBasic
· Integer BASIC
· Liberty BASIC
· Locomotive BASIC
· Mallard BASIC
· MBASIC
· MSX BASIC
· PowerBASIC
· PureBasic
· QBASIC
· Quick Basic
· Revelation Basic
· ROM BASIC
· SAM BASIC
· ScriptBasic
· Sinclair BASIC
· SmallBASIC
· STOS
· TI BASIC
· TI Extended BASIC

You can get QuickBasic 4.5 at
http://www.qbcafe.net

That site also has tutorials on QuickBasic.

QuickBasic 4.5 and 7.1 are are extented versions of QBasic 1.1 that used to come with DOS. QBasic 1.1 only has a basic interpretor.
QuickBasic 4.5 and 7.1 can also produce ".exe" files.
