Hello all, I am a 4th year student and am hoping that someone could help me. I have to do a major project that can be programmed in any language I chose. I have a good knowledge of C, C++, java, VB, and script. I want to make a project using L.A.M.P but the problem is that I can’t think what type of application I could use it for. The application idea counts for a lot of marks so it has to be an original. I don’t mind learning a new language. Could someone help me out? I like a good idea for the application. Thanks.

If someone else gives you the idea, is it really original??
The has been asked about ten times in the last month, try searching the forum.

i have no idea what L.A.M.P is but you could take a stab at rewriting the code for my westell 2100 dsl router..say for instance write an application to port linux to it or allow me to telnet/hyperterminal into the OS to make changes

LAMP, I believe stands for a system composed of Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP...
I agree with Don, "If someone else gives you the idea, is it really original??" In any case, I am working with some Geographical Information Systems and Satellite Imagery data if you want to join in... more or less a remote sensing project.

Why not create a program that pulls concepts from a database at random and puts them together to form great project ideas for computer science students. Then you could build an interface to connect that LAMP to your serial port and it could light up whenever it has a good idea!
Sorry... I can't help, I'm just an amateur but thought maybe you could use a cheap laugh.(Personally, I'd start by visiting the library and looking for periodicals that focus on comp-sci to find out what's on people's minds these days. Might inspire an idea that can have practical application when you go to work.)
