Comment:

I am attempting to connect to a single table in a MS Access 2000 database using MS ADO Data Control 6.0 in VB 6, I also have installed SP 6. The ADO Control is using SP 6?(should I lose SP6 & go back to SP5). I have never attempted this before so am using a book as a guide.

I follow the instructions to the letter, it says:

Dbl Click to add ado control. OK

Connection string Build. OK

Select MS Jet 3.1 ole provider. OK, here I had to use MS Jet 4 as the was no provider or something error later on when connecting.

Select the database.

I Test the connection and all is well.

Now I am instructed to set the record source by "from the Command Type drop-down, select 2-asCmdTable". This is where I get a msgbox tell me:

[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]Data sorce name not found and no default driver specified.

I click OK and try again. Back into the loop.

Could someone please explain where I might be going wrong?

I have used data control before but that made sense to me, ish but this ADO has me stumped at present.

Thanking you

Regards

M

After all that typing I've managed to sort it by chance. Sorry to all those who read all that lot before this, I'll keep off the wacky backy. Promise.
