To design an accounting database, you need to know something about accounting practises and book-keeping.
I assume you are going to design a double-entry system. You will need to know about sales ledger, purchase ledgers, nominal ledgers and trial balances.
You will also have to consider whether this is going to be a multi-purpose accounts database or just for one type of business. Different businesses have different requirements. Then there is the tax system in force where you are.
In short, you have a lot of reading to do.
