Unix is a programming language right?? so my question is does unix nid a right OS?? Just like visual basic ,c ,c++, u can run does both in xp, me, 98....Does unix nid a exact OS?? And What is it?? and what is the use of UNIX?? Is that software was created just for hacking???

Unix is not a programming language, it is just an operating system, developed in early 70s at Bell Laboratories as a follow on from the Multics MIT Project. It spreads various dialects or version due to its development in the academic community. Linux is the Unix version based on the x86 AMD and Intel processors. C is the native and companion language developed to program and expand Unix. Unix/Linux is widely used to operate servers in the commercial environments and to run technical or scientific workstations.
