I'd like to learn how to create a 3D virtual tour, if that's the right name for it. What I'd like to do is be able to move around the inside of a house, going from room to room. It would be a bonus if this could be embedded into a webpage also. Can anyone suggest suitable software and tutorials to get me started?

You could use a number of things...For inside a web browser you could use flash or java. You would need something like macromedia flash or swish, and for java...idk get a java compiler. Search on google.com for flash or java tutorial, you should find a lot of help there.
