Is there a definitive article of how to set up Exchange Server and SBS 2003
and a firewall for the iPhone?

I have IMAP4 and OWA working outside the organisation OK. I think my problem
is with certificates. I sort of know how to generate a certificate in SBS
but I'm not sure if I'm creating the right sort and also I don't know how to
install one on the iPhone.

I step by step guide would be really good.

So far I have got the iPhone account to verify but I get:-

"Cannot Get Mail"
The connection to the server failed

I have read that I can test OMA by https://mail.myorganization.com/OMA

This fails with a certificate error. "This CA Root certificate is not
trusted because it is not in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities
store". I suspect this may be one of my problems.

Our SBS 2003 and Exchange is all up to date.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Vic

Its quite a tricky thing to set up as there weren't any decent website to
tell you how from what i remember when I did it.

The trick to getting the cert on the phone i found was to set up a pop or
gmail account on the phone and then e-mail it to that as an attachment. Make
sure your outlook settings allow you to send it in the first place. When it
arrive at the iphone simply click the attachment and it will install. If you
google how to sync a nokia phone with exchange some of those sites are better
guides as thats the same way the phone syncs and i found needed different
settings to that of a windows mobile.

Once the cert is on the phone when you connect it will says not allowed to
connect then allow click allow and then this will probably pop up again allow
again and it will sync.

I suggest you sync initially over wifi.

Thanks for that Dan. I wonder why Apple don't give full details of all this
in their manuals or in articles.

I'll give it a go and report back.

Thanks again.

because exchange is a mindfield probably. The latest exchange is easier to
use and configure than the older ones but if you have 2003 there are a lot of
tick boxes to make sure you have ticked! I just cross referanced about 6
guides from youtube and google searches and eventually got it to work.
